C.H. Guenther & Son and R.L. Worth & Associates Join Forces in “The Bakery on Broadway”For Corporate HQ and Office Space

SAN ANTONIO – Plans have been finalized for re-development of the former ButterKrust Bakery facilities on Broadway and Millrace (adjacent to The Brackenridge Golf Course) into the new corporate headquarters for C.H. Guenther & Son and additional office space, to be developed and leased by R.L. Worth & Associates of San Antonio in partnership with C.H. Guenther. The project will be known as “The Bakery on Broadway” with a total of 107,000 square feet of Class A office space under roof and is expected to open in early 2012, with 53,500 square feet occupied by C.H. Guenther and 53,500 additional square feet of space available for lease. The project will combine significant portions of the iconic San Antonio landmark building with new construction. C.H. Guenther & R.L. Worth & Associates are actively pursuing certification as a LEED building (Leadership in Environmental Energy and Design) by the U.S Green Building Council for the project.

C.H. Guenther & Son, founded in 1851 as a flour mill in Fredericksburg and today the oldest family-owned business in Texas, will move its headquarters and product research & development operations to the site. The company’s San Antonio milling and manufacturing operations will remain at the Guenther Street location they have occupied since founder C.H. Guenther moved the company here in 1859. The historic Guenther House, which was built in 1859 by Carl Hilmar Guenther will continue its operation as a restaurant and museum. Some 125 CHG employees will move to the new location, with another 225 staying at the Guenther Street facilities.

R.L. Worth & Associates, a locally owned commercial real estate development, investment and brokerage company that operates in and around South Texas, will develop and lease the remaining 53,000-plus square feet as Class A office space in partnership with C.H. Guenther.

This will be a great move for our company and an exciting addition to this part of the Broadway corridor, bringing much positive activity to the site and serving as a catalyst for other projects in the area.”

R.L. We decided on The Bakery on Broadway to honor C.H. Guenther as well as the history of this site, and when our office tenants host meetings at ‘The Bakery’ that name is going to take on a whole new significance. Project architects for the development are Chesney Morales & Associates, Inc.. C.H. Guenther’s interior design will be by RVK Architects Inc. General contractor for the project is Kopplow Construction. C.H. Guenther was represented in the transaction by Jeff Miller of Travis Commercial Corporate Services. Ground will be broken for The Bakery on Broadway in January.
