For the third straight year, C.H. Guenther & Son (CHG) is awarding scholarships to seniors graduating from San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) schools to help them pursue careers in food service, manufacturing, or a related industry.
This year, 22 seniors from 10 different campuses will receive scholarships. Many are participants in the SAISD’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Through CTE, students choose a career cluster and participate in a variety of courses that provide them with the knowledge and skills they need for college, trade programs, and a future career.
The scholarships are part of Guenther Gives, CHG’s corporate giving program which focuses resources on food security, health and well-being, and education programs. The education component seeks to support opportunities for students interested in careers manufacturing, business, or the food and beverage industry.
“While CHG is a global food manufacturing company, we are eager to invest our resources right here in San Antonio, home of our corporate office,” says Rod Hepponstall, CEO & President of CHG. “We have formed a great partnership with SAISD. These scholarships will help these students increase their skills in an emerging profession and, hopefully, in a few years, benefit our local community.”
Over the first two years, CHG awarded a total of 40 scholarships to SAISD students.
“We are grateful for these scholarships, which allow our students to expand their knowledge in their chosen fields by pursuing advanced certifications and education,” said Tiffany Venzor, Director of Counseling at SAISD. “We thank C. H. Guenther & Son for supporting the goals of the next generation of innovators.”
