C.H. Guenther & Son Awards Scholarships to Local Students Interested in Food Service and Manufacturing Careers

scholarship winnersNineteen seniors from San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) have been awarded $1,500 scholarships by C.H. Guenther & Son (CHG) to pursue careers in food service, manufacturing, or a related industry.

The seniors, recent graduates from 10 different campuses, were participants in the SAISD’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Through CTE, students choose a career cluster and participate in a variety of courses that provide them with the knowledge and skills they need for college, trade programs, and a future career.

The scholarships are part of Guenther Gives, CHG’s corporate giving program which directs resources toward food security, health and well-being, and education programs. The education component is geared toward providing educational opportunities for future manufacturing, business, or food and beverage industry careers.

“CHG is a global food manufacturing company based here in San Antonio. We are excited to invest our resources in local students,” says Dale Tremblay, Chairman, Interim CEO & President. “We have formed a great partnership with SAISD and their CTE program. These scholarships will help them grow their skills in a current or emerging profession and, hopefully, return those benefits to the local community.”

In 2022, CHG awarded 21 scholarships to SAISD students.

“We are so grateful for these scholarships, which allow our students to expand their knowledge in their chosen fields by pursuing advanced certifications and education,” said Johnny Vahalik, assistant superintendent of College, Career and Military Readiness in SAISD. “We thank C. H. Guenther & Son for supporting the goals of the next generation of innovators.”
